Microsoft`s different types of licensing options are intended to help organizations of different sizes access Microsoft Office reliably and scalablely. Whether your company pays for licenses in advance or needs a subscription license, there are many options for accessing the software you`re using. From the partner`s perspective, Microsoft is confident that it is allowing its CSP partners to sell open-ended software licenses (excluding SA) from January 2021, as in an unpublished Microsoft partner blog post. It also claimed that there were “more than 90,000 participating companies” in its CSP program. There are three main categories of license purchase types: Open License, Open Value, and Enterprise Agreement. Microsoft Enterprise Agreement is a program for large enterprises that need to acquire more than 250 licenses at the same time. This allows companies to access mass licenses at an affordable price and the price per license is significantly lower than buying individual licenses. Software Assurance can also be added to Enterprise Agreement licenses for an additional fee. Microsoft Cloud Agreement (MCA) is a transactional licensing agreement for commercial and government organizations that want to fully outsource the management of their cloud services through a cloud solution provider (CSP).
Microsoft Open License is the easiest license purchase in which you simply purchase the license in advance and own it forever. Software assurance can be added, but it is optional. Open License is ideal if you have the money to spend on a license and buy a smaller number of licenses. Prices depend on the type of organization you work with. Among the organization`s different pricing, ask the partner whose software licenses you are currently purchasing when sold as part of the Cloud Solution Provider program.
