It was a great race for both Denise and I. Denise smashed her goal for the 21K, and I managed to walk/run to the finish of the 42K. It was a tough run, but clouds kept the race cool most of the time, and the numerous cheering fans really helped keep you going. Hundreds of people yelling ¡Animal! can really get you going – and the many bands along the route was great too. There were plenty of water and Powerade stops and even misters to run through!
The start was a bit congested as thousands of racers lined up for the gun. BUt after the bumping and jostling to get going it was a great run. I had the opportunity to run 5 km with a talented runner from Culiacan who was running his third marathon this year!
The night before the Marathon we had an amazing fireworks show, the Luces de Marathon. They luanched thousands of fireworks it was great!
